Air Gun Licensing in Scotland

Following the end of the consultation period on proposed new air gun licensing laws in March, a petition opposing the proposals was lodged with the Scottish Parliament's Public Petitions Committee on the 24th May. The petition contained 13,685 signatures and will be considered at one of of the committee's meetings in June.

The Scottish government wants to introduce licensing for air guns including a requirement for existing owners of air guns to demonstrate a legitimate use for owning one. The proposed legislation would also require anyone wishing to bring an air gun into Scotland to obtain a visitors permit.
